My Story
I am Zachary Poteet, a construction professional with over five years of experience in the industry, dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in every project I undertake. My journey in construction began with a passion for building and a commitment to safety, leading me to specialize in roles that prioritize these values.
My career started with hands-on roles, where I worked as a Cabinet Builder and Drywall Installer. These early experiences were instrumental in developing my skills in safety protocols and quality craftsmanship. At Living Stone Creation Inc., I ensured the safe use of power tools and proper training of crews, setting the foundation for my future roles in safety management.
Transitioning to more complex projects, I took on the role of Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) and Quality Control Manager. One of the significant milestones in my career was managing safety and quality for multiple high-profile projects at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. These projects, totaling over $40 million, involved extensive renovations and repairs to buildings damaged by Hurricane Michael. My responsibilities included implementing effective safety programs, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety and quality standards.
Currently, I am contributing my expertise to the Moose Creek Dam Barrier Wall Modification Project in Alaska. This $148 million project is the largest civil works project undertaken by the USACE Alaska District in over 30 years. As a Quality Assurance Representative and Safety Professional, I oversee the implementation of advanced construction techniques to enhance the dam's structural integrity. This project involves using specialized equipment to mix gravel with cement and bentonite to depths of up to 65 feet (19.8 Meters) along a 4.5-mile stretch, addressing risks associated with aging infrastructure and extending the dam's lifespan.
My role extends beyond technical oversight; I am deeply involved in facilitating communication between contractors, subcontractors, and the USACE, ensuring that project milestones are met and issues are promptly addressed. I also collaborate with environmental agencies to implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPP), ensuring compliance with environmental protection standards.
In addition to my project-specific roles, I hold numerous certifications that underscore my commitment to safety and quality. These include OSHA 30-hour Construction, USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors, and various specialized safety training credentials.
My journey in construction has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to creating safe, high-quality structures. I believe that every project is an opportunity to learn, innovate, and contribute to the community.
